Geelong region country tourist attraction in the market

YOU HAVE seen We Bought a Zoo, now you can say “We bought a farm” with this popular tourist attraction in the market.

You saw We bought a zoo, now you can say “We bought a farm”.

The 12.5 acre Summer Sensations Cafe and Berry Farm tourist attraction at 1440 Bannockburn-Shelford Rd, Teesdale is in the market and includes a cafe; 18-hole minigolf; a nine-hole course for the disabled; a facility allowing punters to pick their own berries; and 8ha of cleared land to be developed or exploited.

Owner and operator Dianne White said she and her husband Neil had been there for 14 years.

“When we first got here it was pretty much a block of vacant land, it was just the access and the gum trees,” she said.

Since then, they have developed the property, even living in the Western-style barn – which now houses the cafe – while their two-story Cape Cod-style home was built.

“It just grew a little bit more, so we planted some raspberries, Neil had experience with it, put all the strawberries in there, and it continued from there, and we made the cafe bigger,” Ms. White.

The couple provide berries at some of Melbourne’s most popular farmer’s markets, including Abbotsford Convent’s Slow Food Farmer’s Market, Collingwood Children’s Farm Farmer’s Market and Boroondara Farmer’s Market.

“We have a lot of berries coming in, strawberries and black berries, the strawberries are bearing fruit right now, people love to come and pick them,” Ms. White said. The property is for sale through Graeme Taylor Estate Agents and a slice of the good life could be yours for $ 1.45 million.
